The external telephone system onboard the JR routes through our contracted satellite system, Rignet/VSATMarlink.

It has a Texas A&M campus number, 1-979-845-3725

Public phones are located on

1. Bridge Deck Planning area (by coffee machine)

2. The Zoom station in the User Room (Computer Room Lower Tween Deck).

3. Tween Deck outside SIEM/IODP movie rooms (under the stair) NOT CURRENTLY IN SERVICE
4. Main Deck hallway behind crew change room

To call out (dial 9), it is the same as if you are calling from TAMU campusdial 99 and wait ~10 seconds for a dial tone.  Follow the instructions below.

       To the U.S.

1. All 979 area code numbers, and Toll-free area codes, are free.  However, if you are calling College Station, do not dial the area code (979).  Just dial the 7 digit number.  If calling toll free, do not dial the 1, just the 800 number.
2. All other area codes will require a phone card.  Dial 9 (instead of the 1 indicated on the card).  Dial the 877the 800****** number on the card (not the 1).  Follow the prompt to enter the PIN #. Dial your Follow the prompt to make a call, then dial 1 + area code and + number.

       Internationally

1. Follow the instructions on the card for dialing from the USA, except, you must dial 9 (instead of the 1 indicated on the card), then dial the 877All calls require a phone card.  Dial the 800****** number on the card (not the 1).  Follow the prompt to enter the PIN #.  
2. Dial your country code, area code and number.  If your country has a code for mobile numbers, like 080, only dial the last two digits, 80 instead of 080.

1. Follow the prompt to make a call, then dial 011 + Country Code + City/Area Code + Number

To obtain a phone card, purchase a $10 or $20 card from the ALO Assistant Lab Officer (IODP Ship Store carries these).  Currently we sell zuzume phone cards.
